These are primarily paddles that have been used in the Backcountry Packraft Rental fleet.  All of them have life left in them, whether they could be used as a spare on a trip requiring extra paddles or in some cases as a primary paddle for someone who doesn't require a high performance whitewater paddle.  Unless otherwise speicifed, these paddles are 210cm in length which means they are ideal for touring and fine for Class II sections of whitewater.  An important note on Aqua-Bound paddles: each paddle is made of 4 pieces and designed to fit together as a unit.  The connections between the shafts and the blades and the two shafts can grow looser over time, or in some cases tighter due to the end of the shaft getting scraped on rock.  For the purposes of easier listing (rather than listing each paddle) we have divided the paddles into a few groups:

A. Loose connections, aluminium shaft- this could be an original set that had connections get looser over time, or it could be a mix and match set where we used a blade from another damaged paddle to make the whole set.  All blades and shafts are completely intact on this type.  Aluminum shafts are a little colder to the touch than fiberglass but very tough.

B. Loose connections, fiberglass shaft- this could be an original set that had connections get looser over time, or it could be a mix and match set where we used a blade from another damaged paddle to make the whole set. All blades and shafts are completely intact on this type.  Fiberglass shafts are warmer to the touch but the connections seem to get looser faster with fiberglass shafts.

C. Good connections, small chip or tear on 1 blade- Aluminum shaft, one blade has a chip or tear not deeper further than 3"(toward the shaft from the tip).  In some cases the chip or tear may be on the side of the blade but in those cases the chip or tear is only 1". Typically tighter connections than group A and B.  A tear or a chip doesn't mean the whole blade is compromised, especially if it is just on the tip.

D. Tight connections, aluminum shaft- this results from the shaft ends getting "buggered up" in some way during the life of the paddle.  It means that particularly in sandy rivers it is hard to get the blade-shaft connection loose, which means we can't rent it because the renter can't reliable take it apart immediately after the rental.  This type of paddle is usually easy to get apart in the middle, so still very packable as a two piece paddle and you can still get into 4 pieces (we'll send it to you that way) it just might take a little more work to do so.  Typically is an original set, but in some cases we mix and match.  No chipped or torn blades with this variety.

E. Good connections, small chip or tear on 1 blade- Fiberglass shaft, one blade has a chip or tear not deeper further than 3"(toward the shaft from the tip). In some cases the chip or tear may be on the side of the blade but in those cases the chip or tear is only 1". Typically tighter connections than group A and B. A tear or a chip doesn't mean the whole blade is compromised, especially if it is just on the tip.
